BAILEY KROGER

Bailey Kroger is a 9-year-old Pomeranian who has been a patient of Dr. Jones since he was 2 years of age. In September of 2006 Dr. Jones diagnosed Bailey as having a somewhat common canine thyroid condition called hypothyroidism - not to be confused with hyperthyroidism, which has a far higher occurrence in felines.

In April of 2009, Dr. Jones determined Bailey to also have a disorder called hyperadrenocorticism, or Cushing's Disease, which can be complicated and hard to diagnose.  Bailey also experienced alopecia, or hair loss, which is a routine symptom of hyperadrenocorticism. Fortunately management of his Cushing's Disease, along with a diet change, has resulted in the return of Bailey's fur - see pictures below.

Then, probably secondary to his Cushing's Disease, Bailey developed diabetes mellitus in September 2009 and currently requires daily injections of insulin to keep this health condition regulated.

At home, Bailey spends time with his sister Emily, a three-legged greyhound. Generally quite amicable, Bailey seems to have developed an aversion to the telephone. When the telephone rings, Bailey will bark at it. If one dares answer the telephone, Bailey will proceed to nip at the feet of whomever dared to stop paying attention to him in favor of answering that darn telephone! The nerve!
